Annual General Meeting 20th March 2023

The customary Committee Meeting took place before members mustered for the AGM. Mind one would have hoped for sunshine as the day marked the Spring Equinox and the official start of Spring. Sadly, members travelled through rain and grey skies. On arrival members were directed to the Drawing Room on the first floor. Officers took their places at the head of the room and order was called by President, Alison Frith. Formalities were undertaken with approval of the Minutes of the previous AGM apologies were advised and the business of the day undertaken. New Officers were announced having been nominated, elected, and endorsed by the gathered members.

Institute of Hospitality Awards 2022

At a glittering awards ceremony in London on Monday night, the Club won the UK Hospitality Talent Development Team of the Year 2022. Phyllis Court was shortlisted for this major prize alongside Hilton Bankside, Luxury Family Hotels, Gusto Italian, The Dorchester Collection and the Galgorm Collection of Luxury Hotels. This prize is one of only two awards acknowledging the broader staff performance in UK hospitality. It is one of the most sought-after awards in our industry as it recognises not only the effective management of staff at every level but also the quality and loyalty of the entire team as judged from a customer’s perspective.

Gastronomes -“The Belfry” and “Mosimann’s”

In 1988 the Club was acquired by Gastronome, Anton Mosimann. Anton was born in 1947, the only child of Swiss restaurateurs in the Jura mountains. He spent his early years in Nidau, near Biel helping his parents run their own restaurant where he developed both a love for food and a desire to become a cook. The first taste he clearly remembers is that of Emmental cheese.

One couldn’t help but notice that instead of a dark Winters night, it was a lovely autumnal evening. Whether you arrived at the Club from Belgrave Square or Grosvenor Place you would have been heartened by the sound of the pipes wafting in the air being played at the entrance – calling us to our gathering and dinner.
